Export persons from a book 150 150 Heredis Help Knowledgebase

From Heredis 2025, it is possible to create a new file in GEDCOM or Heredis format with only the persons present in a book.

This way, you can easily export the persons from the book to provide the file to a family member, should the need arise.

To do this, create the book as described in Create and edit books.

Once you’ve chosen the construction options, click on the Export button.
Choose the format:

  • choose Exporting to GEDCOM File if the person to whom you are sending the file uses an older version of Heredis or another program
  • choose Exporting to Heredis File if the person to whom you wish to send the file uses the same version of Heredis as you, or a higher version.

(Windows) Book – Exporting to a file

  • Choose backup location.

Heredis will analyze the book and show you the progress bar.

Heredis then opens the export settings window.

This export will contain all the persons mentioned in the book, so it’s up to you to choose which data you wish to include.
