For instance, in the screenshot below, you can see the flag entitled \u201cFrom Netherlands\u201d has been assigned to this person.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-53768\" src=\"https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/etiquette_liste_pc-en.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"220\" height=\"208\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Once a flag is selected, a colored dot will be displayed. Smart Search<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Proceed with your desired search.<\/li>\n<li>Click on the <strong>Flag<\/strong>\u00a0button <strong>&gt; Add &gt; <\/strong>Select your flag.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Here is an example : I am looking for all the Smiths who are not direct ancestors\/descendants so I can assign to them a flag entitled \u201cSmith Collateral Relatives\u201d.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>I set up the search as such: Persons &gt; Surname &gt; Is Exactly &gt; Smith + Persons &gt; Ahn. Number &gt; Is Ahn Number &gt; No.<\/li>\n<li>I click on Search.<\/li>\n<li>Since I have registered variants for the Smith surname, Heredis includes those and displays them in the search results as well.<\/li>\n<li>In the <strong>Processing selected persons<\/strong> area, I click on the <strong>Flag<\/strong> button <strong>&gt; Add &gt;<\/strong> Smith Collateral Relatives.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-53795\" src=\"https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/ri_duchamp_nonsosa2-en.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1437\" height=\"895\" srcset=\"https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/ri_duchamp_nonsosa2-en.jpg 1437w, https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/ri_duchamp_nonsosa2-en-300x187.jpg 300w, https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/ri_duchamp_nonsosa2-en-1024x638.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/ri_duchamp_nonsosa2-en-768x478.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1437px) 100vw, 1437px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Now you can proceed in the same way to add flags to persons, events, or facts. Just make sure to select the appropriate tab in the search <strong>Results<\/strong> area.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-53792\" src=\"https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/ri_onglets_resultats_pc-en.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"49\" \/><\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>Unlink flags<\/h3>\n<p>The same way you added a flag, by clicking on the pencil <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-11943\" src=\"https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/Edit.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"16\" height=\"16\" \/> in the person\u2019s identification area, in the event, fact, or media. (Please read the part entitled: Add Flags.)<\/p>\n<p>Click on the flag to unlink it. The check mark disappears and the colored dot is no longer displayed.<\/p>\n<p>You can also do a Smart Search and unlink flags in batches: either by using search criteria (as seen above), or by searching for all the data the flag you wish to unlink has been added to.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Click on <strong>Search &gt; Smart Search.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>As an example, enter the type of data (Persons, Events, or Facts) &gt; Flag &gt; Name &gt; Is Equal to &gt; select one of your flags.
