The Heredis format is made up of several elements that must work together.
\nThis message informs you that two elements are dissociated and that the file cannot be opened.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

There may be two different problems:<\/p>\n

– The .heredis file and the .hmw folder are named differently
\n– The .heredis file has been removed from the .hmw folder.<\/p>\n

In both cases, this is due to mishandling outside of Heredis.<\/p>\n

To fully understand the following explanations, it is important that your Windows file explorer displays file extensions. To do this, open your file explorer and click on View :<\/p>\n

\"\"In this example, I’m looking for a file called ” sample-file “.<\/em>
\nGo to the location of your genealogy file.<\/p>\n

If you don’t know where your genealogy file is, there are two ways to find out.
\nIf the file is on the home page, click on the cogwheel and on Show the File location on computer<\/strong>.
\nIf the file is not on the home page: Find a file on your computer<\/a><\/p>\n

In this example, the file is located in Documents -> BSD Concept -> Heredis -> Heredis files.<\/p>\n

1rst case : The .heredis file and the .hmw folder are named differently<\/h3>\n

By going to the location of the file (Documents -> BSD Concept -> Heredis -> My Genealogy), I see that there is indeed a folder in .hmw format named Sample File :<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Opening this folder shows that it contains the .heredis file you want, i.e. the file named sample-file :<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The .heredis file is indeed contained in a .hmw folder, but both must be named exactly the same<\/strong>.
\nHere, the .hmw folder is named Sample File<\/strong>, while the .heredis file is named sample-file<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

You need to rename one or the other so that both are strictly identical (taking into account capital letters, accents, hyphens, spaces, etc.).
\nSo, for example, you need to have a sample-file.hmw folder containing a sample-file.heredis file.<\/p>\n

Once the names are identical, you can open the genealogy file again.
\nThis happens when you want to rename a file “by hand”. In future, to avoid this type of inconvenience, we advise you to use the function provided in the software. This function is described in this article: Rename a Heredis File<\/a><\/p>\n

2nd case<\/h3>\n

By going to the file location (Documents -> BSD Concept -> Heredis -> Heredis File), we see that there is a file in .heredis format called sample-file, but that it is not contained in a folder in .hmw format:<\/p>\n

You must place this file in .heredis format in a folder in .hmw format named strictly in the same way.
\nTo do this, right-click under the list of existing folders and select New -> Folder :<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Name the folder exactly the same as your file, adding .hmw at the end:<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Right-click on the .heredis file and select Cut<\/strong>.
\nOpen the .hmw folder, right-click inside and select Paste<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Your .heredis file is now in its .hmw folder:<\/p>\n

You can now open the genealogy file again.
\nThis happens when you want to move your genealogy file and you only move the file in .heredis format.<\/p>\n

In future, when you want to move the genealogy, be sure to move the file in .hmw format.
