If this research does not eas\u00adily isolate the person you are looking for, you have available other search criteria corresponding to all the information you have entered. These advanced research criteria are grouped in the Persons panel and are classified by research theme (<strong>Personal Data, Relations, Events, etc.<\/strong>).<\/p>\n<p>1. Open the <strong>Persons<\/strong> panel.<br \/>\n2. Enter if needed the <strong>Surname, Given Names <\/strong>and <strong>Gender<\/strong>.<br \/>\nWhen the list of search results is too long and does not isolate the person sought, unfold the pop-up menu and choose the theme of cri\u00adteria that can most help.<\/p>\n<h3>Personal Data<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Select the criteria <b>Personal Data\u00a0<\/b>from the enhanced criteria pop-up menu.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2645 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/advanced_criteria_pop_up_mac_EN.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"148\" height=\"140\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The first criteria line concerns the identity fields entered on the <strong>Add or Choose\u2026<\/strong> screen or on the<strong> Personal Data<\/strong> and <strong>Family Group Data<\/strong> tabs.<br \/>\nSelect the item on the pop-up menu (<strong>Prefix, Suffix, Nickname, Occupation, Title, User Number<\/strong>) and then fill in the entry box with the desired information: \u00abJock\u00bb for the nickname or \u00abBaker\u00bb for the occupation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Info<\/strong> \u2022 Click the magnifying glass in the entry box to select the <strong>Is empty<\/strong> or <strong>Is not empty<\/strong> option.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2646 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/advanced_criteria_prefix_mac_EN.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"240\" height=\"131\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The second line of criteria concerns the user fields you have created and completed.<br \/>\nThe theme of identity includes the flags you have assigned to the person (<strong>Child Status, Signature, Media, Childless, Unmarried, Secondary, Marked, Confidential<\/strong>), tick the box on the second line and select the search criteria in the first menu and the value of this criterion in the second pop-up menu: <strong>Child Status<\/strong> is <strong>Adopted<\/strong> or <strong>Signature<\/strong> is <strong>Cannot Sign<\/strong> (the person cannot sign).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-19313\" src=\"https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/criteria_tag_mac_en.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"97\" height=\"128\" \/>\u00a0 \u00a0 <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-19316\" src=\"https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/criteria_filiation_mac_en.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"133\" height=\"150\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Info<\/strong> \u2022 Click the magnifying glass in the entry box to select the <strong>Is empty<\/strong> or <strong>Is not empty<\/strong> option.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Enter a word or phrase in the <strong>Note<\/strong> search box to find the individual according to the content of his\/her person note.<\/li>\n<li>Tick the <strong>Private<\/strong> box if you are looking for a private note. You can also click the magnify\u00ading glass in the search box to indicate that you are looking for a per\u00adson whose note<strong> Is not empty<\/strong> or <strong>Is empty<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Click <strong>Search<\/strong> to start the search over the entire file.<\/li>\n<li>To start another search, clear the criteria by clicking the <strong>Remove enhanced criteria<\/strong> button to the right of the choice of research topic menu and then select new criteria.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>Relations<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Select the criteria from the <strong>Relations<\/strong> pop-up menu. This type of criterion gives access to combined information based on the links between the person and others related to him\/her.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-19319\" src=\"https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/criteria_relation_mac_en.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"174\" height=\"138\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Select the type of link (<strong>Father, Spouse, Child, etc.<\/strong>) from the menu.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2647 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/advanced_criteria_relation_pop_up_mac_EN.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"236\" height=\"148\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Enter <strong>Surname<\/strong> and\/or <strong>Given Names<\/strong> of individuals linked to the per\u00adson.\n<ul>\n<li>If you are looking for a \u00abJudy\u00bb, whose brother\u2019s name was \u00abPeter\u00bb, you will enter \u00abJudy\u00bb in the<strong> Given Names<\/strong> field at the top of the <strong>Persons<\/strong> panel, then select the <strong>Siblings<\/strong> criterion on the pop-up menu and finally, enter \u00abPeter\u00bb in the <strong>Given Names<\/strong> field for advanced criteria.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-19322\" src=\"https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/criteria_search_relation_mac_en.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"208\" height=\"263\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>When searching for an person by his\/her spouse, you can specify the family status. Tick the <strong>Family Status<\/strong> box, then select the status from the pop-up menu (<strong>Married, Divorced, etc.<\/strong>). You can add a word or phrase in the <strong>Note<\/strong> search box to search according to the content of the Family note. Tick the <strong>Private<\/strong> box if you know you are looking for a private note.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-19325\" src=\"https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/criteria_family_status_mac_en.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"222\" height=\"166\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>When searching for an individual by the people that you have linked to the person, specify the type of link (<strong>Adoptive Parent\/Child or Heir\/ Testator, etc.<\/strong>). Tick the <strong>Type of Link<\/strong> box and select it from the short\u00ad cut menu. Choose the one you want.<\/li>\n<li>Select the item from the pop-up menu (<strong>Religion, Health, Nationality, etc.<\/strong>), then complete the entry box with the appropriate keyword: \u00abblind\u00bb if you selected &#8220;Health&#8221; or &#8220;Catholic&#8221; if you are looking for information on Religion.<\/li>\n<li>Click the <strong>Search<\/strong> button to search the entire file.<\/li>\n<li>To start another search, clear the criteria by clicking the <strong>Remove enhanced criteria<\/strong> button, to the right of the choice menu for a research theme, and select new criteria.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>Genealogical criteria<\/h3>\n<p>To learn more about your genealogy or to correct any errors, you can identify individuals based on genealogical criteria.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Select<strong> Genealogical Criteria<\/strong> on the pop-up menu.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2649 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/advanced_criteria_genealogical_mac_EN.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"238\" height=\"220\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Choose the most relevant genealogical criteria proposed in the menu: <strong>Living Only, Treetop, Unrelated Person, Single-Parent Family, Childless Family, Child conceived Out of Wedlock, Inconsistent Data.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Click the <strong>Search<\/strong> button to search the entire file.<\/li>\n<li>To start another search, clear the criteria by clicking the <strong>Remove enhanced criteria<\/strong> button, to the right of the choice menu for a research theme, and select new criteria.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>Calculated data<\/h3>\n<p>You can identify persons based on data calculated by Heredis from the information you enter concerning:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the life of the individual: age at death, age difference with spouse, number of children&#8230;<\/li>\n<li>changes to your genealogical file: creation date or modification date for a person<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>1. Select <strong>Figures<\/strong> on the pop-up menu.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2651 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/advanced_criteria_calculated_data_mac_EN.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"236\" height=\"196\" \/><\/p>\n<p>2. Choose the type of search to perform: <strong>Age at Death, Age at Marriage, Age Gap between Spouses, Number of Children, Number of Spouses, Record Date, Change Date.<\/strong><br \/>\n3. Select the appropriate operator (<strong>Is Equal, Is Greater Than<\/strong>, etc.), then enter the desired number or date.<br \/>\n4. Click the <strong>Search<\/strong> button to search the entire file.<br \/>\n5.
