See also the <a href=\"https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/en\/custom-reports\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">new custom reports<\/a> article.<\/p>\n<p>All documents you view and print with Heredis are open in your word processing. This way of operating puts you in a familiar environment, facilitates the manipulations you want to perform, allows you to completely reshape the presentation of the data and to record, if you wish, the documents displayed as independent files.<br \/>\nIf no word processing is up and running on your computer, you can download free word processing, such as LibreOffice.<\/p>\n<h3>Create a custom report<\/h3>\n<p>You can compose several types of custom reports: <strong>Persons<\/strong>, <strong>Ancestors<\/strong> or <strong>Descendants<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Click on the <strong>Reports <\/strong>menu to access the various editions offered by Heredis. It is possible to insert or remove columns.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Fields:<\/strong> Most of the fields in the <strong>Data&gt;<\/strong> <strong>Personal Data<\/strong> screen are usable, as well as certain calculated fields (age at death, number of children, etc.).<\/li>\n<li><strong>The layout of the columns:<\/strong> Each of the fields you put on the report can be shaped (attributes, alignment, etc.).<br \/>\nYou can also assign a <strong>suffix<\/strong> and a <strong>prefix<\/strong> to each selected field.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-21525\" src=\"https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/CustomReportWindows_EN.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"675\" height=\"487\" srcset=\"https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/CustomReportWindows_EN.png 675w, https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/CustomReportWindows_EN-300x216.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 675px) 100vw, 675px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>When you first open a custom report, Heredis displays a default report that you can use as is or change.<\/p>\n<p>Custom reports as you have drawn them can be saved and recalled for future use. For example, you can create several themes for each type of reports (persons, ancestors, descendants).<br \/>\nThe custom report offered by clicking on the <strong>New Report<\/strong> button is fully composed by you.<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>Columns<\/h3>\n<h4>Add columns<\/h4>\n<p>The lower area of the window allows the columns to be displayed. It represents the useful width of the page. The columns are divided between the two margins in the same proportions as on the screen regardless of the print format chosen (portrait or landscape).<br \/>\nYou can create up to 32 columns within the space available for printing.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Click the <strong>Add<\/strong> button in the <strong>Column<\/strong> area to create the number of columns you need for the report to build.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-21538\" src=\"https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/CustomizeReportAddColomnWindows_EN.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"247\" height=\"179\" \/><\/h4>\n<h4>Swap columns<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Click in the column to move.<\/li>\n<li>Click the <strong>Left arrow<\/strong> or <strong>Right arrow<\/strong> button until the column has reached the desired location.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-21555\" src=\"https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/CustomizeReportSwapColomnWindows_EN.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"242\" height=\"174\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-21555\" src=\"https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/CustomizeReportSwapColomnWindows_EN.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"242\" height=\"174\" \/><\/p>\n<h4>Delete a column<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Click in the column to select it.<\/li>\n<li>Click the <strong>Delete<\/strong> button in the <strong>Column <\/strong>area.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Give a column a title<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Click in the column to select it.<\/li>\n<li>Type in the title chosen for the selected column in the <strong>Title <\/strong>input area.<\/li>\n<li>Include the alignment chosen for the column title by checking the <strong>Left,<\/strong> <strong>Centered<\/strong> or <strong>Right <\/strong>boxes.<\/li>\n<li>Also indicate the alignment chosen for the contents that will be contained in this column.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Change the width of the columns<\/h4>\n<p>Position the mouse on the right edge of the column you want to enlarge or reduce.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The cursor then turns into a double <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3335\" src=\"https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/retouche_retournement_horizontal.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"25\" height=\"25\" \/> arrow.<\/li>\n<li>Hold the left button on the mouse.<\/li>\n<li>Move the right edge of the column to reach the desired width.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>Fields<\/h3>\n<h4>Position the fields in the columns<\/h4>\n<p>Depending on the type of information to be placed in the column, click on one of the tabs containing the data for the person, his\/her father, his\/her mother, his\/her unions, or the calculated data.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Choose on the list of fields on the one you want to set up and click on it.<\/li>\n<li>Click the <strong>Add<\/strong> button in the <strong>Field<\/strong> area to fit into the selected column.<br \/>\nor Double-click on the name of the field in the list to fit into the selected column.<\/li>\n<li>Include for the added field any formatting attributes to apply to it by checking the <strong>Bold,<\/strong> <strong>Italic<\/strong> or <strong>Underline <\/strong>boxes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-18884\" src=\"https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/old_custom_list_rubriques_en.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"590\" height=\"87\" srcset=\"https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/old_custom_list_rubriques_en.png 590w, https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/old_custom_list_rubriques_en-300x44.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 590px) 100vw, 590px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The fields will be presented side by side in the edited document unless you have inserted a line break.<br \/>\nTo spread the fields across different lines in the same column:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Select the field.<\/li>\n<li>Click the <strong>Line Skip <\/strong>button.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The total number of fields and line breaks is limited to 32 per column. For delete and move options, line breaks should be treated as fields.<br \/>\nTo switch the order of fields on the same line or within a column:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Select the field to move.<\/li>\n<li>Click the <strong>Up<\/strong> or <strong>Down<\/strong> Arrow button until the field has reached its new location.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Delete a field in a column<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Select the field to remove.<\/li>\n<li>Click the <strong>Delete<\/strong> button in the <strong>Field <\/strong>area.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Add a suffix or prefix to a field<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Select the field to edit in the column.<\/li>\n<li>Click in the <strong>Prefix<\/strong> area and then type in the prefix to be applied to this field.<\/li>\n<li>Position yourself in the <strong>Suffix<\/strong> area and then type the suffix to apply to this field.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-21565\" src=\"https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/CustomizeReportAddSuffixWindows_EN.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"594\" height=\"86\" srcset=\"https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/CustomizeReportAddSuffixWindows_EN.png 594w, https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/CustomizeReportAddSuffixWindows_EN-300x43.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 594px) 100vw, 594px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>For example, to indicate the age at death of a person:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Select <strong>Age<\/strong><strong>at Death<\/strong> in the column.<\/li>\n<li>Click in the <strong>Prefix<\/strong>box, type &#8220;at the age of&#8221;.<\/li>\n<li>Click in the <strong>Suffix <\/strong>box, type the word &#8220;years.&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You will thus get the mention: at the age of &lt; age at the death &gt; years.<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>Create a Custom Persons Report from Smart Search.<\/h3>\n<p>It is also possible to edit the result of a selection obtained with <strong>Smart Search <\/strong>as a personalized list.<\/p>\n<p>Search for one or more criteria from the <strong>Search <\/strong>&gt; <strong>Smart Search <\/strong>Tab. He&#8217;ll wear a .hp18 extension.<\/li>\n<li>Heredis records this theme in the <em>Documents <\/em>folder <em>&#8211; BSD Concept &#8211; Heredis &#8211; Heredis Custom Reports.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This theme can then be called and used in any type of custom report.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-18893\" src=\"https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/old_custom_list_newlist_en.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"673\" height=\"40\" srcset=\"https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/old_custom_list_newlist_en.png 673w, https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/old_custom_list_newlist_en-300x18.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 673px) 100vw, 673px\" \/><\/p>\n<h4>Create a new custom report<\/h4>\n<p>To create a new blank list theme:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Click the <strong>New Report<\/strong> button to access a new blank list, to be completed with the desired fields and columns. The number of columns proposed by default is 4.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Open a custom report theme already registered<\/h4>\n<p>To recall all the custom report themes you&#8217;ve created:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Click the <strong>Open <\/strong>button.<\/li>\n<li>Select the existing theme to reuse. Custom report themes have a .hp18 extension.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This theme will appear on the screen for use or modification and will be the list theme that will open by default when the next request of the same type of list is set.<\/p>\n<h4>Launch the edition of the custom report<\/h4>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-18896\" src=\"https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/old_custom_list_edition_en.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"671\" height=\"134\" srcset=\"https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/old_custom_list_edition_en.png 671w, https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/old_custom_list_edition_en-300x60.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 671px) 100vw, 671px\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Click the <strong>OK <\/strong>button to validate the layout of the built list.<\/li>\n<li>Click the <strong>Cancel<\/strong> button to return to the setting screen without changing the custom report theme used.<\/li>\n<li>Click the <strong>OK<\/strong> button on the setting screen to launch the text processor that will display the custom report.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-18899\" src=\"https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/old_custom_list_word_en.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"677\" height=\"667\" srcset=\"https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/old_custom_list_word_en.png 677w, https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/old_custom_list_word_en-300x296.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 677px) 100vw, 677px\" \/><\/p>\n<h4>Export the contents of a custom report<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Click the <strong>Export<\/strong> button in the setting screen to export the data in the custom report to Plain Text Files (.txt).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This data can then be used in a database, spreadsheet or word processor.<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>Exporting documents<\/h3>\n<p>The various documents, lists or sheets, are exportable in text format (.txt).<br \/>\nClick the <strong>Export <\/strong>button to create a .txt document or click on <strong>OK<\/strong> to create a .rtf document. Give the new document a name and specify its location before registering it.<\/p>\n<p>Then open this document in any type of adapted software: word processing, spreadsheet&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3555 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/liste_preetablies_export_pc.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"625\" height=\"40\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Then once open with your word processing software or text reader software you can save, modify &#8230; the document becomes independant of Heredis.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Note<\/strong>: Heredis is optimized for Microsoft Office (paid) or LibreOffice (free) word processing available for download. Heredis is compatible with Microsoft Office for Windows as from Office 2016 and for Mac as from Office 2019.
