the entered word, or the search &#8220;starts with&#8221; the letters entered.<\/p>\n<p>To undo a search on a word, click the erase icon (<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1465 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/16-gomme.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"16\" height=\"16\" \/> Windows, <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1466 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/Gomme_16.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"16\" height=\"16\" \/> Mac) to the right of the search area.<\/p>\n<p>See the list of events in which this source is used in the lower part of the window.<\/p>\n<p>To find a source registered in the <strong>Sources Index:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Click directly on the source in the list displayed.<\/li>\n<li>or Tap the arrow keys of your keyboard to access them.<\/li>\n<li>or Enter the first letters of one of the items from the searched source in the <strong>Search <\/strong>area. You can search for a source by name, origin, rating, etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You can refine the list of sources displayed:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To limit the list to unused sources, check the corresponding box.<\/li>\n<li><strong>(Windows)<\/strong> To view only private sources, check the corresponding box.<\/li>\n<li>Click in the column header to see the sources recorded in alphabetical or numerical order of the Title or Repository or Document or Call #, etc. A new click in the header reverses the order displayed. An arrow appears in the column on which sorting is performed. Columns N, T, M, P allow you to sort sources with a Note, Transcript, Media or the Private ones. Click on the header of these columns to see the sources sort as you see fit.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>When you select a source from the list, the detail of that source appears on the right (title, name of repository, document, private source, &#8230;).<\/p>\n<p><strong>(Mac)<\/strong> You can change the fields of the selected source directly from the detail on the right.<\/p>\n<p>Uses of this source are displayed under the source list.<\/p>\n<p><em>(Windows) Uses of a source<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-18422\" src=\"https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/sources_index_uses_en_pc.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"730\" height=\"151\" srcset=\"https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/sources_index_uses_en_pc.png 730w, https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/sources_index_uses_en_pc-300x62.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 730px) 100vw, 730px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>(Mac) Uses of a source<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-18425\" src=\"https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/sources_index_uses_mac_en.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"780\" height=\"102\" srcset=\"https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/sources_index_uses_mac_en.png 780w, https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/sources_index_uses_mac_en-300x39.png 300w, https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/sources_index_uses_mac_en-768x100.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 780px) 100vw, 780px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Double-click on one of the uses to navigate directly to the event or the person concerned.<br \/>\nThis source is selected and can be deleted or modified. If you modify it, the changes will be made for all the uses of this source.<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>Merge two sources<\/h3>\n<p>You may have recorded several sources in the <strong>Sources Index <\/strong>that corresponds to the same reference: for example, you created a source with the digitized certificate and created another with the transcript of the certificate.<br \/>\nYou can create a single source that will replace the two sources currently in the index.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Select source A to be eliminated.<\/li>\n<li>Click the <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8827\" src=\"https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/16-remplacer.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"16\" height=\"16\" \/> button.<\/li>\n<li>Select source B to keep.<\/li>\n<li>Click the <strong>Choose <\/strong>button.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Heredis indicates the number of changes that will be made.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Confirm the replacement of source A with source B by clicking the <strong>Yes <\/strong>button. All events to which source A was attached will be changed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>Delete a source<\/h3>\n<p>Select the source from the source list.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Click the <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-11953\" src=\"https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/16-moins-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"16\" height=\"16\" \/> button.<br \/>\nHeredis warns you when the source is being used. If you confirm the deletion, the source will no longer appear in the list of sources of events to which it was assigned.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>Delete unused sources<\/h3>\n<p>To remove all unused sources in the genealogical file, select <strong>Remove All Unused Sources<\/strong> in the drop-down menu <strong>(Windows)<\/strong> <strong>Tools, (Mac) Options.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>Multi-selection<\/h3>\n<p>To process multiple sources in a single operation:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>(Windows)<\/strong> Press the Ctrl or Maj button and, while keeping that key pressed, click on the different sources you want to select.<\/li>\n<li><strong>(Mac)<\/strong> Press the Command or Maj button and, while keeping that key pressed, click on the different sources you want to select.<\/li>\n<li>Then choose the appropriate action, deletion, replacement or printing of the list (from Print button on Windows, from Options button on Mac).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>Swap two columns<\/h3>\n<p>This feature allows you to easily exchange the values of 2 headings from a source.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Select one or more sources, via multi-selection<\/li>\n<li><strong>(Windows)<\/strong> Click the <strong>Tools <\/strong>button <strong>&gt; Swap<\/strong>, then choose the 2 topics to trade.<\/li>\n<li><strong>(Mac)<\/strong> Click the <strong>Options<\/strong> button <strong>&gt;<\/strong><strong> Swap<\/strong>, then choose the 2 topics to trade.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>Change the value<\/h3>\n<p>To change the value contained in one topic by another possible value for this topic:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Select one or more sources, via multi-selection,<\/li>\n<li><strong>(Windows)<\/strong> Click the <strong>Tools<\/strong> button <strong>&gt; Change the Value &gt;<\/strong> select the section &gt; choose the new value for this topic.<\/li>\n<li><strong>(Mac)<\/strong> Click the <strong>Options<\/strong> button <strong>&gt; Change Value<\/strong> &gt; select the section &gt; choose the new value for this topic.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong> Before applying the changes, Heredis displays a confirmation message telling you how many sources are impacted by the desired change. Click the Yes or No button to apply the changes or not.<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>Print<\/h3>\n<h4>(Mac) Print the source index<\/h4>\n<p>The <strong>Options<\/strong> button <strong>&gt; Print &gt; Custom reports<\/strong> allows you to edit the custom report of the sources stored in the file as they are displayed.<\/p>\n<p>If you have done a search, only the results of this search will be printed. Also, Heredis will keep the sorting order you have chosen by clicking on the columns corresponding to the different topics of the sources.<\/p>\n<p>You can also create a list, in the format prior to the custom reports, of all sources.
