Place subdivisions can now be geolocated. The Place\u00a0Subdivision<\/strong> field is intended for specific details on a place, such as an exact address, a hamlet, or any other place name.<\/p>\n

Edit<\/h3>\n

To access this feature, select an event under the Personal Data<\/strong> tab. Click on the Details<\/strong> tab then on the pencil \"\" button displayed to the right of the Place subdivision<\/strong> field.<\/p>\n

You may also access it from Places Index > Subdivision<\/strong> then click on the pencil \"\" button.
\nSince Heredis 2022, you can add a subdivision in the Place Index by clicking on \"\" and delete it by clicking on \"\" the on the Subdivision tab of a location.<\/p>\n

You can enter the name and coordinates manually or paste a place\u2019s data (in its entirety or only the coordinates) by clicking on the \"\" button.

Search<\/h3>\n

If the subdivision name is precise enough, Heredis will perform an automated pre-search. Browse through the list of propositions.<\/p>\n

If your subdivision cannot be located \u2013 for instance \u00ab at her grandma\u2019s house \u00bb – Heredis will not be able to offer any potential geolocation. You should therefore modify the field content under Suggestions<\/strong> then click on Search<\/strong> to launch the search again.<\/p>\n

Note<\/strong>: Avoid using commas and unnecessary spaces at the end of the text in the Subdivision field to ensure that the automated search will be able to find the designated places.<\/p>\n

Edit a non-geolocated subdivision<\/em><\/p>\n

In the same way you search for a place\u2019s geolocation (please refer to Geolocation<\/a>), click on:
\n\u2022 Fill up<\/strong> to keep the subdivision name and add coordinates,
\n\u2022 Replace<\/strong> to replace all data previously entered for the subdivision.
\nClick OK<\/strong> to validate.
\nIf you know where the person\u2019s grandmother used to live and prefer to leave \u00ab at her grandma\u2019s house \u00bb, then drag and drop the marker or right-click on Position the marker here<\/strong>.
\nCoordinates (latitude and longitude) will then be displayed.<\/p>\n

Display<\/h3>\n

From the Places Index<\/h4>\n

In the list of places, the S column will display markers to indicate whether there is one subdivision or more. When they are not geolocated, the marker is black . When at least one subdivision has been geolocated, the marker is yellow .<\/p>\n

From maps<\/h4>\n

Subdivisions are visible thanks to yellow markers on the Events<\/strong> maps, Zoom in on a Place<\/strong> maps, as well as on Migrations<\/strong> maps (under the History<\/strong> tab).<\/p>\n

You can right-click on any of the Heredis maps and Copy the coordinates<\/strong>. You will then be able to click on the Paste \"\"<\/strong> button in the Place subdivision<\/strong> field under Events<\/strong>. However, to be able to do so, make sure a name has been entered in the subdivision field \u2013 otherwise the button will not be activated.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
