Add a new person<\/h3>\n

All tabs<\/h4>\n

1. Place the person for whom you want to add parents, as the primary person.
\n2. Create the link.
\n\u2022 Click the link in the empty boxes for the father or the mother.
\n\u2022 Choose Person > Add Father <\/strong>or Add Mother<\/strong>
\n\u2022 Click the \"\" button (Add or link persons) on the toolbar and choose Add Father<\/strong> \"\"or Add Mother<\/strong> \"\".
\n3. Enter the new person.
\nIn the Add Father<\/strong> or Add Mother<\/strong> window, com\u00adplete the entry fields with the information you have. Some items are prefilled such as the father\u2019s surname or gender of the father and mother.
\n\u2022 To change the surname, click in the field and enter another name. You can change the gender using by clicking in the Gender box and changing it.
\n\u2022 (Mac)<\/strong> To change the gender, click the Do not specify gender<\/strong> lock.<\/p>\n

Info<\/strong> \u2022 Click the \"\" cogwheel icon at the top right of the screen to change the display mode if all desired fields are not displayed.<\/p>\n

Before you add the parent, check the right part of the screen to make sure he\/she is not already created. Click Add<\/strong>. The parent is created as well as the link with the child.<\/p>\n

Info<\/strong> \u2022 You can link the grandfather and grandmother in the same way.<\/p>\n

Family Group Data entry<\/h4>\n

1. Click the \"\" button at the bottom of the Parents entry field.
\n2. Choose Add Father<\/strong> or Add Mother<\/strong>. If this arrow \"\" appears at the end of the line, it means Heredis detected a potential duplicate. Click on it to compare the potential duplicate.
\n3. Continue the data input with the information you have. To validate the new individual, click outside the entry field.<\/p>\n

Link an existing person<\/h3>\n

During data entry<\/h4>\n

1 Place the person for whom you want to add parents as the primary person.
\n2. Create the link.
\n\u2022 Choose Person > Add Father<\/strong> or Add Mother<\/strong>
\n\u2022 Click the \"\"\u00a0button on the toolbar and choose Add Father<\/strong> \"\"or Add Mother \"\".<\/strong>
\n\u2022 Click the links in the empty boxes for the father or the mother on the Immediate Family<\/strong> screen.<\/p>\n

In the Add Father<\/strong> or Add Mother<\/strong> window, select the person to be linked from the list of Matching Persons<\/strong> to the right of the screen. To limit the list displayed, you can enter the given name in the Personal Data<\/strong> area. Click Choose<\/strong> or double-click the name in the list.<\/p>\n

Info<\/strong> \u2022 To access this screen from the Family Group Data<\/strong> tab, click the red arrow \"\" that appears on the input line.<\/p>\n

Drag and drop<\/h4>\n

1. Place the person for whom you want to add parents as the primary person.
\n2. Drag the father or mother from one of the side panels (Persons, Bookmarks, Relations\u2026<\/strong>), and release on the display area of the screen (Father or Mother box or Parent fields in the Family Group Data<\/strong> tab). The parent is then linked.<\/p>\n

Info<\/strong> \u2022 Creating a link to the Father and a link to the Mother will auto\u00admatically create a union between the father and mother, even if no event has been entered.<\/p>\n

Unlink a person and parents<\/h3>\n

When you detach a person from his\/her parents, the individuals con\u00adcerned will always remain in your genealogy file.<\/p>\n

Info<\/strong> \u2022 After you have removed the parent link, you can assign a differ\u00adent mother or father to the primary person.<\/p>\n

1. Place the person as the primary person.
\n2. Remove the link with the parents.
\n\u2022 Choose Person > Delete > Father Link<\/strong> or Mother Link.<\/strong>
\n\u2022 Click the \"\"\u00a0on the toolbar and choose \"\"Unlink Father<\/strong> or \"\"Unlink Mother<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Family Group Data tab<\/h4>\n

1. Select the parent to be deleted in the Parents<\/strong> data entry fields.
\n2. Click the \"\"\u00a0button at the bottom of the field, and choose Unlink Father<\/strong> or Unlink Mother<\/strong>.
