For each selected event, you may access them by clicking the <strong>Witnesses <\/strong>or <strong>Participants<\/strong> tab. If at least one person was linked to the event, a visual indicator (blue bar) is displayed on the tab, in the list of events.<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>Add a new person<\/h3>\n<p><em>Add a witness<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1520 size-full alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/witness_pc_EN.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"737\" height=\"279\" \/><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Click the <strong>Witnesses<\/strong> or <strong>Participants<\/strong> tab in the event information fields. The <strong>Witnesses<\/strong> tab becomes <strong>Participants<\/strong> if the event is shared.<\/li>\n<li>On the button bar at the bottom, click <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1140\" src=\"https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/16-plus.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"16\" height=\"16\" \/>\u00a0(Link a witness or participant to the event).<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>Assign a Witness or Participant to\u2026<\/strong> screen opens. Enter the infor\u00admation you know about the person.<\/li>\n<li>Click<strong> Add<\/strong>. The person is now available in the existing persons list of your file.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>Link an existing person<\/h3>\n<h4>During data entry for an event<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Click the <strong>Witnesses<\/strong> or <strong>Participants<\/strong> tab in event information fields.<\/li>\n<li>On the button bar at the bottom, click <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1140\" src=\"https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/16-plus.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"16\" height=\"16\" \/>\u00a0(Link a witness or participant to the event).<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>Assign a Witness or Participant to\u2026<\/strong> screen opens. Enter the surname or first name in the <strong>Personal Data<\/strong> field and select the per\u00adson to be linked from the list of <strong>Matching Persons<\/strong> to the right of the screen. Click the <strong>Choose<\/strong> button or double-click the name in the list.<\/li>\n<li>Complete the information field on the link and press <strong>OK<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4>Drag and drop<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Select the event concerned on the <strong>Personal Data<\/strong> tab.<\/li>\n<li>Take the person to be linked from a side panel (<strong>Persons, Bookmarks, Relations\u2026<\/strong>), and release him\/her on the information fields of the event.<\/li>\n<li>Complete the link information fields and press <strong>OK<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>Add a new person with his\/her witnesses<\/h3>\n<p>To add witnesses to an event during the data entry for a new person, use the <strong>Comprehensive<\/strong> or <strong>Customized<\/strong> display mode by clicking the cogwheel <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-17423\" src=\"https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/roue-dentee.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"16\" height=\"16\" \/>\u00a0icon at the top right of the <strong>Add or Choose\u2026<\/strong> screen. See also <a href=\"https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/en\/customize-heredis-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Customize Heredis \u2013 Heredis Preferences<\/a> article.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Add the person you want (see also <a href=\"https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/en\/add-persons\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Add persons<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li>Disclose the <strong>Witnesses<\/strong> field (click the disclosure triangle if it is fold\u00aded).<\/li>\n<li>In the button bar at the bottom of the <strong>Witnesses<\/strong> field, click the <strong>+<\/strong> but\u00adton.<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>Assign a Witness to\u2026<\/strong> screen opens. Enter the information you know about the witness and click <strong>Add<\/strong>. Or select an existing person and click <strong>Choose<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Provide information on the link with the witness and press <strong>OK<\/strong>. Enter the information known about his\/her role in the event.<\/p>\n<p>Change or supplement this information on the <strong>Personal Data<\/strong> tab.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Select the event and click the <strong>Witnesses<\/strong> or <strong>Participants<\/strong> tab.<\/li>\n<li>Select the Witness link to be changed and click the\u00a0 <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1130\" src=\"https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/16-edit.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"16\" height=\"16\" \/><strong>Edit and modify<\/strong> <strong>the link with the selected witness or participant<\/strong> button, or double-click the line.<\/li>\n<li>Edit the information of the link.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4>Role<\/h4>\n<p>Specify the role of the person in the selected event: it may be a par\u00adticipant in the event (witness, religious officiant, godfather, etc..) or be quoted as not having participated (deceased relative, lawyer who has registered a contract, etc. .).<br \/>\nChoose the role to assign from the pop-up menu.<\/p>\n<p><em>(Windows) Witness role<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-18760\" src=\"https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/witness_role_en_pc.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"571\" height=\"283\" srcset=\"https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/witness_role_en_pc.png 571w, https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/witness_role_en_pc-300x149.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 571px) 100vw, 571px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>(Mac) Witness role<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-18763\" src=\"https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/witness_role_mac_en.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"722\" height=\"465\" srcset=\"https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/witness_role_mac_en.png 722w, https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/witness_role_mac_en-300x193.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 722px) 100vw, 722px\" \/><\/p>\n<h4>Age<\/h4>\n<p>\u2022 <strong>Age on record<\/strong>: many deeds indicate the age of the witness on the day of the event. Fill in the field <strong>Age\/Record<\/strong>.<br \/>\n\u2022 <strong>Effective Age<\/strong>: to help you verify the choice of an existing person as a witness, Heredis calculates and displays their actual age on the day of the event. If it is very different from the age on the record, you have probably selected a homonym. Cancel the link and select anoth\u00ader person or check the dates which may be incorrect.<br \/>\nIf the witness or paticipant has no known date of birth, the age on the record allows Heredis to calculate the date of birth automatically.<\/p>\n<h4>Comments<\/h4>\n<p>Type a comment on the link between the person and the event. In most cases, you will use here references to occupation, residence and kinship as shown on the acts.<br \/>\nOnce you have validated the entry or modification of the witness or participant, the comment appears in the list of witnesses or partici\u00adpants.<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>Unlink a witness or participant and an event<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>On the <strong>Personal Data<\/strong> tab, select the event and click the <strong>Witnesses<\/strong> or <strong>Participants<\/strong> tab.<\/li>\n<li>On the bar at the bottom of the event, click <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1141\" src=\"https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/16-moins.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"16\" height=\"16\" \/>\u00a0(Unlink the selected wit\u00adness or participant from the event).<\/li>\n<li>Press <strong>OK<\/strong> to validate.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The person is detached from the event but remains available in your genealogy file.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Based on the act or document that you possess, indicate who are the persons who attended the event, or who [&#8230;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[45],"tags":[115],"class_list":["post-12556","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-use-heredis","tag-input"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.3 -
