You know that the person has lived in this city or region? Consider using the event places to find someone in your genealogy.
\nTo find a place among the places of your file, you have several options:<\/p>\n

With the Places panel<\/h3>\n

Use the search box on the Places<\/strong> panel to type a word in any entry field for the place you are looking for: the city, postal code, county, state, country.
\nThe number of items found matching your search is displayed at the bottom of the panel.
\nTo cancel a search on one element of the place, click the (Windows)\"\" (Mac)\"\"\u00a0 Delete<\/strong> icon to the right of the Search box.<\/p>\n

Refine the search by selecting sort criteria from the pop-up menu: Unused Places, Places Linked to Primary Person.<\/strong> The list is updated according to the selected criteria.
\nTo cancel the sort criteria, select All Places<\/strong> in the pop-up menu.<\/p>\n

With the Places Index<\/h3>\n

Open the Places Index<\/strong> from the Tools<\/strong> menu, click the Index<\/strong> button \"\" \u00a0on the toolbar or (Mac)<\/strong> click on the book symbol \"\" on the Places Panel<\/strong>.
\nIn the Search<\/strong> box, type a word in any input field of the source being searched.
\nThe number of items found matching your search is displayed (Windows)<\/strong> in the Title of the Index (Mac)<\/strong> beneath the search box.
\n(Mac) Click on the magnifying glass\"\" to select the search mode: Search Contains<\/strong>\u00a0the word entered, or Search Starts With<\/strong>\u00a0the entered letters.<\/p>\n

To cancel a search on elements of the index, click the (Windows) \"\" (Mac) \"\"\u00a0Delete<\/strong> icon to the right of the Search<\/strong> box.<\/p>\n

You will limit the search to unused places by checking the Unused Places<\/strong> box.
\n(Mac) The results can be classified by the presence of a variant (V), note (N), media (M), or City, County… by clicking on the column header.
\nSee the list of events\/facts in which this place is used by clicking the Usage<\/strong> tab. Double-click the line of the event to navigate and view this person and this event.<\/p>\n
