It alerts you to any anomalies which you may either correct or confirm.<br \/>\nHeredis notifies you when you enter an event date which is later than that of the death of such person. You may fix the date entered if you made a mistake, or confirm a post-mortem event, such as the trans\u00adfer of ashes or an act concerning the deceased\u2019s estate.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong> You can use and personalize a post-mortem event in order to avoid alerts like this. See also <a href=\"https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/en\/input-events-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Input events<\/a> article.<\/p>\n<p>Heredis also checks for possible inconsistencies if you have created a link with a person bearing the same name as the person you are entering: it will inform you, for example, if you link a possible father, that he was 143 years old at the birth of the child, or if the wife assigned to the primary person had died before her wedding.<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>Consistency control<\/h3>\n<h4>Permanent control for duplicates<\/h4>\n<p>You will be notified if any date or time appears inconsis\u00adtent.<br \/>\nAny input which appears inconsistent will be highlighted by a red cross <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-304\" src=\"https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Incoherence.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"25\" height=\"25\" \/>\u00a0in the <strong>Consistency<\/strong> button on the toolbar. Click the but\u00adton to be notified of the apparent inconsistency (due to a mistake of date, or the attribution of a link which is not valid) and understand it. Consistency control is automatic and can not be turned off. When inconsistencies are detected, a message pops up to alter you at the end of the input.<\/p>\n<p>Review the summary of the inconsistencies shown for the primary person. These controls are only indicative and it is your responsibili\u00adty to rectify the anomalies detected or not.<\/p>\n<p>To avoid the double entry of a person in your family tree, Heredis will display a list of existing name matches similar to your entry for any new persons you may enter in the <strong>Add<\/strong> menu screens.<br \/>\nSimply select from the list and click <strong>Choose<\/strong> to choose that person instead of creating a new individual.<\/p>\n<p>For further information, read <a href=\"https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/en\/find-duplicates\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Find Duplicates<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/en\/merging-two-persons\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Merging Two Persons<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h4>Check all persons in the file<\/h4>\n<p>Heredis provides a tool for detecting all inconsistent data in your genealogy file.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Open the <strong>Persons<\/strong> panel.<\/li>\n<li><strong>(Windows) <\/strong>Choose the\u00a0<strong>Enhanced Criteria <\/strong>then<strong> Inconsistent Data<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>(Mac)<\/strong> Choose the\u00a0<strong>Genealogical Criteria<\/strong> option then<strong> Inconsistent Data.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Double-click each of the persons displayed in the results list to verify their data.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You can also launch a Smart Search to find inconsistencies. Set up as follows: <strong>Persons &gt; Consistent &gt; No<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mac Info<\/strong> \u2022 To do this at a later date, you may store the list obtained by marking all the people displayed. Click the <strong>Batches<\/strong> button (cogwheel icon) on the <strong>Persons<\/strong> panel toolbar. Choose the <strong>Mark\/Unmark &gt; Mark All<\/strong> option. You may also keep the results displayed by print\u00ading the list of incoherent persons. To do this select the <strong>Print<\/strong> <strong>List<\/strong> option.<\/p>\n<h4>No longer consider a person as incoherent<\/h4>\n<p>After checking the data of the primary person and to keep the infor\u00admation as it was entered, choose <strong>Person &gt; Check Consistency<\/strong> or press the <strong>Consistency<\/strong> button\u00a0<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-304\" src=\"https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Incoherence.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"25\" height=\"25\" \/> on the toolbar and select the <strong>Mark<\/strong> as <strong>Consistent<\/strong> option.<br \/>\nThe <strong>Consistency<\/strong> button changes its appearance and displays a green tick mark <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-758\" src=\"https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/coherence-verte.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"25\" height=\"23\" \/>.\u00a0This person will no longer be displayed in the list of a search for inconsistent information.<\/p>\n<h4>Change the consistency criteria<\/h4>\n<p>Heredis allows you to set your own criteria for checking the consis\u00adtency of some data.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>(Windows) <\/strong>Choose <strong>Tools &gt; Preference &gt; Heredis Preferences <\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>(<\/strong><strong>Mac)<\/strong> Choose <strong>Heredis &gt; Preferences<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Open the <strong>Consistency<\/strong> tab.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>Windows Consistency<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-787 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/consistency.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"382\" height=\"520\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><em>Mac Consistency<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1038 size-full alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/consistency_mac_EN.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"589\" height=\"457\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You may modify the limit value so Heredis will consider it consistent or not.<br \/>\nThe controls relate to the age of spouses at marriage, age at death, parental age at birth of children, the gap between two dates for suc\u00adcessive births, the age gap between spouses.<br \/>\nIndicate the minimum or maximum values (expressed in years) you wish to apply to your genealogy file. It may be interesting to change the maximum age at death to input contemporaries. It is frequent since the XXth century for men to pass away after 90.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These amendments are effective immediately for the all file.<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>Validity Control<\/h3>\n<p>Heredis analyses all information and will block any erroneous data entry.<\/p>\n<h4>Dates<\/h4>\n<p>Dates should be entered properly.<\/p>\n<p>See article <a href=\"https:\/\/help.heredis.com\/en\/dates\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dates<\/a> for possible for\u00admats.<\/p>\n<p>Heredis notifies you when you enter an event date which is later than that of the death of such person. Heredis prevents the entering of inconsistent links: one person cannot be entered as the son of another if he is already his grandfather. A message will indi\u00adcate why the link may not be validated.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong> A message will pop up if you try to marry 2 persons of the same sex. You just need to validate the message if you didn&#8217;t make a mistake. There won&#8217;t be any inconsistency.
